Comprehensive study of Active Geological Processes with modeling, artificial intelligence and remote sensing techniques

The active geological processes that are addressed by the members of the group include phenomena of land subsidence, seismicity, landslides and rock falls, volcanism, as well as others related to hydrogeology such as droughts and overexploitation of aquifers. To study its impact, we develop and optimize mathematical tools such as: numerical models based on physical and/or chemical processes; spatiotemporal statistical models; artificial intelligence techniques, in particular machine learning algorithms.

Geological hazards, geological engineering and mining geotechnics (INGEORISK)

The main objective of the group is to provide society with scientific information, methods, tools and solutions to mitigate the impact of geological hazards. Among the geological hazards that GI INGEORISK incorporates into its lines of research are the following: landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, land subsidence, volcanic eruptions, floods and the interrelation between the different phenomena.
