International agreements

From the Vice-presidency for International Relations (VRI), collaboration agreements with institutions of third countries are managed and processed. Nowadays relations with our counterparts in other countries are managed mainly through the organization of workshop-type training activities.

This Vice-Presidency, on behalf of CSIC, manages these agreements of wills signed with other institutions in which the terms or bases of collaboration or inter-institutional cooperation are established, and the obligations and commitments of the parties.

From the International Agreements Unit, all international agreements are managed except those derived from the execution of projects financed by the European Union.

These international agreements are broken down into two major groups:

  • Framework Agreements or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), being in this group the most general Agreements without specific commitments between the most important worldwide institutions.

  • Specific International Agreements, dealing in this block with agreements with more specific commitments and obligations between these institutions. To carry out the processing of these agreements, special reference to articles 47 to 53 of Law 40/2015, of October 1, on the Legal Regime of the Public Sector must be done.
