Experimental Pharmacology and New Targets in Cardiopulmonary Disorders

Experimental Pharmacology and New Targets in Cardiopulmonary Disorders

Our research group seeks to delve into the cellular and molecular bases of pulmonary vascular dysfunction, the gateway to the body for a multitude of agents capable of compromising people's health.

Geoheritage & Geodiversity

Geoheritage & Geodiversity

Geological heritage, stone heritage and geodiversity are lines of research developed at the IGME-CSIC since the 1970s. This research group has been one of the international pioneers in this discipline, coordinating the Spanish Inventory of Sites of Geological Interest (IELIG) and co-leading the IGCP-731 IUGS-Geological Heritage Sites (2021-2023) project.

Geological Extreme Events and Heritage (GEE&H)

The analysis of extreme geological events and the proposal of mitigation measures to prevent the concomitant hazard effects, especially on the natural and cultural heritage, are addressed from the IGME-CSIC research group on “Geological extreme events and Heritage”, by applying pioneer and innovative methodological approaches, including: geology applied to emergency situations; earthquake geology and archaeo-seismology; geological hazard assessment in volcanic islands; cataloguing and surveying mass movements; flood and paleo-flood hydrology and geomorphology; characterization and

Environmental and Water Chemistry for Human Health - ONHEALTH

ONHEALTH is composed of 4 researchers (permanent position) including two scientific researchers (E. Eljarrat, M. Farré), a tenured scientist (S. Pérez) and a young researcher (M. Llorca). Additional members include 3 post-doctoral researchers, 16 PhD students, 2 laboratory assistants, and several Master's and Degree students. The group participates in various national and European funded projects, as well as in contracts with public administrations and companies, with the total funding obtained for the projects currently in force exceeding 2,500,000€.

Lithosphere Geodynamics and Geochemistry

Lithosphere Geodynamics and Geochemistry

We investigate the igneous and metamorphic processes that control the dynamics of the lithosphere and shape the architecture of the Earth¿s crust. We are interested in the igneous processes behind the formation of oceanic and continental crust, the metamorphic reactions and the interaction rock-fluid-deformation in subduction zones, the tectonothermal evolution of crystalline basements and hinterlands of collisional orogens, and the relationship between mineral systems and tectonics.

Tectonic Processes and GeoResources

The main goal of the Tectonic Processes and GeoResources Lab is to explore the lithospheric processes operating during extension and orogenesis, and their influence on the distribution of georesources.

Physico-biological interactions in the ocean

Physico-biological interactions in the ocean

The objective of the Research Group on Physical-Biological Interactions in the Ocean (InFiBiO) is to understand, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the physical, chemical and biological factors that determine the functioning, structure and organization of planktonic organisms, as well as their response to natural and anthropogenic disturbances. The InFiBiO integrates researchers from various disciplines, who share a common interest in the study of the functioning and dynamics of marine ecosystems.

Immunity, Immunopathology and Emergent Therapies

The current more sedentary lifestyles, obesity, as well as the uncontrolled activity of the immune system and inflammation play a fundamental role in the development and worsening of cardiovascular, metabolic (in its broadest sense) and autoimmune diseases.

Main specialization

Intelligent Control

Intelligent Control

The Intelligent Control Group focuses its research activity on the application of advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence techniques to ensure the safe autonomous navigation of vehicles and robots, as well as the interaction of robots with humans. The group's activities address research and innovation in different fields such as fuzzy logic, combinational optimisation, robot navigation and social robotics.
