Immunonutrition Group

The team includes two permanent research scientists and two doctors in permanent technical positions. By studying the systemic immune system and the microbiota, together with diet evaluation, physical activity, anthropometry and multiple blood biomarkers, our research group can assess the nutritional status of population groups with the aim to prevent or lessen the risks of disease associated with nutrition and the immune system, including inflammatory conditions. - We conduct observational and epidemiological studies to establish relationships between nutritional and lifestyle factors and biomarkers. - We conduct human clinical trials to demonstrate the biological activity of foods and their constituents. - We characterize the immunomodulatory properties of bioactive compounds and probiotics in in vitro cellular experiments.
