The Buddy Programme aims to facilitate the integration of a new person into an institution, supporting them during the first months of adaptation to their new job and the organisation. The buddy is an experienced person within the institution who guides the newcomer, answering questions, sharing informal knowledge, and promoting their integration.

In the case of CSIC, the programme focuses on strengthening both national and international relationships between researchers, especially at R1, R2, and R3 levels, and new members.

Guidance is organised in four key areas: academic, social, administrative and professional. This helps in adapting to research, strengthening relationships, guidance in administrative procedures and identifying opportunities for professional development.

The programme is implemented in centres that choose to participate and assign experienced researchers as buddies to newcomers.

For more information on how to implement the programme, refer to the Guide for Institutes, Centres, and Units.
