The Biomolecular Interactions and Structural Glycobiology Group of the Instituto de Investigaciones Químicas investigates the Structural Chemistry of Biomolecular Recognition, with the mission to facilitate an atomic resolution understanding of biologically relevant biomolecular interactions, as well as of the non-covalent interactions responsible for the structural and functional properties of biomaterials, from a structural and dynamic point of view.

Theory, Modelling and Simulation (aTMOS)


In the ATMOS group, we work on the theory, simulation, and modeling of materials. We focus on the study of materials both ab initio and with effective models. We also work on quantum optics and nanophotonics. Specifically, we address computational tasks from first principles, thermal transport, high-throughput materials screening, and ionic matter modeling. Additionally, we work on topological matter, surface electronic structure, many-body problems, quantum optics, magnetism, and nanophotonics.

Variety of bean: Faba Galaica (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Faba Galaica is a conservation variety obtained through individual selection within a local variety from Lourenzá (Lugo) in 2014. It is used in the Protected Geographical Indication “Faba de Lourenzá” as a base seed for its production.

New product to reduce physiological disorders in fruits

New formulation of foliar calcium treatments especially for late season varieties of deciduous fruit species.  By specific procedures of preparation and protocols of application, remarkable results are achieved in the mitigation of calcium related physiological alterations.
