Service description
The process spray dryer involves spraying a fluid into a chamber subjected to a stream of hot air (between 150 ° C to 300 ° C), the air serving as heating means and fluid transport. This fluid is atomized into millions of individual droplets by a rotating disk or spray nozzles. Through this process the contact surface of the pulverized product is greatly increased and when it is within the chamber with the flow of hot drying air causes rapid vaporization of the solvent, usually water, becoming dust and finishing the process with the collection thereof.
Advantages
¿ Simple and fast process
¿ Continuous process with great homogeneity of the final product
¿ Reduction of particle size (micronization)
¿ Microencapsulation of various products using solid matrices
¿ Ability to co-drying: incorporation of ingredients under dry / solid form throughout the drying
¿ Getting a fine and homogeneous powder or instant soluble granules and powder free
Drawbacks
¿ High initial investment compared to other types of continuous dryers
¿ The heat required per unit weight of the product is high
¿ The product recovery and dust removal increases the cost of drying
¿ High-quality food is needed since impurities are retained in the product.
