Nutrigenomics and Fish Growth Endocrinology

The Group is composed 3 staff researchers, and it currently participates in 5 European projects (PERFORMFISH, MAGNIFICIENT, EATFISH, AQUAIMPACT, AQUAEXCEL3.0) and the PI of the Group is also the PI of CSIC in 4 of them. Research is carried out on fish growth, nutrition-genome interaction, and the development of new aquaculture feeds through omics techniques (transcriptome, proteome, metabolome, microbiome) and biosensors of behavior and metabolic activity. The generation of virtual production models with environmental and animal monitoring is a new field of interest. The research model species is gilthead sea bream, although work is also conducted on European sea bass and salmon. Total funding (national & European projects and research contracts) is higher than €7M (1.6M in 2017-2021). In 2017-2021 the Group has published more than 55 articles in first quartile journals and had >3100 citations. The Group also carries out an important training activity for technical personnel.
