Global change, conservation and genetics of marine species

Currently (November 2023) the group is made up of three permanent members: a senior scientist (Carlos Saavedra), a RyC researcher (Diego Kersting), and a senior laboratory technician (David Cordero). In addition, a predoctoral fellow and a hired technician have joined. Specialization: population genetics and genomics of marine organisms. Molecular ecology. Genetic markers (microsatellites, mtDNA, SNPs). Transcriptomics. Bivalve farming techniques. Marine ecology. Mediterranean corals. Effect of global change on communities and threatened species. Objective: study of the effect of global change on habitats, communities and marine species, with special attention to those of interest in fishing, aquaculture and biodiversity conservation.
