MAGNETIC FLUX MANIPULATION VIA FUNCTIONALIZED SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS

This PhD thesis (MAGNETIC FLUX MANIPULATION VIA FUNCTIONALIZED SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS) will be developed within the Laser, Energy and Advanced Materials group (LEMA), at the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragón. The INMA is a joint CSIC-Universidad de Zaragoza institute, recently awarded as Severo Ochoa centre of excellence. The financial support stems from the project PID2023-146041OB-C21, through the program “Ayudas para Contratos Predoctorales” with estimated starting date January 2025. With the main focus on the design and construction of tailored thin film surfaces for different applications involving the manipulation of magnetic flux at the microscale, the project will involve experimental tasks as: surface modification by laser treatments, microstructural characterisation, low-temperature electromagnetic measurements, as well as the numerical simulation of superconducting properties. Given that the research activities in this thesis are tightly related to our collaborations, the student will have the chance of enjoying scientific missions at the groups of Prof. A. V. Silhanek (University of Liège) and Prof. U. K. Ozturk (Karadeniz Technical University). This international experience will complete his/her preparation with the knowledge of MOI and levitation force measurements. MSc graduates in Physics, Material Science, Solid State Chemistry and alike will be welcome as candidates.
