The Evolutionary Origins of Human Technology

Modern humans rely entirely on technology for their subsistence, and the interaction between technological and biological adaptations has played a key role in the evolution of our lineage. When exactly technology emerged in the fossil record and thus started to shape human evolution, has appealed researchers since the beginnings of paleoanthropology.

Ignacio de la Torre, scientist at Instituto de Historia of Spanish National Research Council (IH-CSIC), will review at this online talk what we currently know about the origins of technology, characterised by stone tool making, and how recent findings in the field of primatology are helping to shape our understanding of the earliest archaeological record.

This conference is organized by CSIC Delegation in Brussels.
