VISUAL OPTICS AND BIOPHOTONICS LAB (VIOBIO)

The Visual Optics and Biophotonics Lab (VIOBIO) develops new technologies focus for research, evaluation and improvement of vision. The Group is also pioneer in the research of the eye’s optical and structural changes caused by myopia, corneal disease and treatment, crystalline lens accommodation and aging (presbyopia). One of the most remarkable recent achievements of the Group is the 3-D high-resolution full quantitative biometry and geometry of the eye. The group has also pioneered discoveries on the visual impact of the ocular optics using adaptive optics. The technologies have allowed, among other results, to develop new designs of introacular lenses. The high impact of VIOBIO’s research has been widely recognized as shown by the high number of prestigious international awards.
