Protein structure, dynamics and interactions by NMR

This group is composed of researchers from different backgrounds and interests which gives it a marked multidisciplinary character. The group was a pioneer, in our country, in the application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) to the resolution of structural problems of interest in Chemistry and Biology. Our research is aimed at elucidating the chemical-physical bases that determine the structure, dynamics, stability and folding of peptides, proteins, nucleic acids and their complexes. For this purpose, NMR is used in addition to various biophysical, biochemical and structural biology techniques. The experimental effort is directed to implement and optimize the NMR methodology and to study complex systems, in some cases of biomedical relevance. It is intended to understand the molecular processes responsible for the biological function of proteins, including molecular assembly, and the interaction with other molecules and the surrounding environment.
