Nanohybrid and Interactive Polymers

The core research activity of our Group centers on the molecular and multifunctional design of new nanostructured polymer materials and nanohybrids with prop./applic. of high technological interest in Biomedicine, Optoelectronics, Energy and Environment. These new nanomaterials integrate components of different nature, where the inorganic component provides unique optical, electronic, magnetic or catalytic properties depending on their nature, size, shape and distance between nanoparticles (NPs), while the polymeric component is essential to adapt the NP to the final application, offering a wide range of physicochemical properties. The polymer chemistry presents a wide range of controlled synthetic routes, specific chemical modification reactions or new assembly techniques to obtain "tailor-made" polymer materials, with great versatility in their structure, functionality, architecture and nanostructure, and additionally to promote the hybridization with the rest of the components.
