Lithosphere Geodynamics and Geochemistry

We investigate the igneous and metamorphic processes that control the dynamics of the lithosphere and shape the architecture of the Earth¿s crust. We are interested in the igneous processes behind the formation of oceanic and continental crust, the metamorphic reactions and the interaction rock-fluid-deformation in subduction zones, the tectonothermal evolution of crystalline basements and hinterlands of collisional orogens, and the relationship between mineral systems and tectonics. The group has a significant analytical/instrumental component (ICP-MS and TIMS), and a wide experience in regional geological mapping of igneous and metamorphic complexes integrating the disciplines of petrology, geochemistry and geochronology.
