Fish reproduction and diversification

The group of “Fish reproduction and diversification” from IATS-CSIC was established in January 2004. It is made up by one senior scientist, Dr. Evaristo L. Mañanós, as the head of the group, a laboratory technician and punctually, students and visitors. The main research line is the study of the physiology and endocrinology of fish reproduction. Technological research is performed in collaboration with the aquaculture industry and focused on the development of reproductive methods, such as, environmental protocols to manipulate reproduction, hormonal therapies on assisted reproduction, artificial fertilization and evaluation of egg and sperm production, with the goal to optimize strategies for broodstock management and diversify aquaculture production. A relevant activity is also performed in dissemination, training and teaching, in collaboration with Universities and other organizations.
