Environmental Catalysis Engineering Group (ECEG)

ECE group is expertise in Catalytic Technologies, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Catalysis, where the main research lines of this group are framed by different projects based on the study and development of environmental catalytic processes. In waste water treatments is focused on the study and development of heterogeneous catalytic approaches for advanced oxidation process (AOPs). The AOPs studied are Catalytic Wet Peroxide Oxidation (CWPO) or Heterogeneous-Fenton, and heterogeneous photocatalysis and solar light. Nowadays, new catalysts based on titania and titania-graphene composites are being designed to solar photocatalytic processes. On the other side, some titania coatings are being applied to urban infrastructures for NOx abatement with self-cleaning properties. Recently, new photocatalytic multifunctional systems based on titanium dioxide and/or Zn and or graphene are being studied to be applied as antimicrobial photocatalysis.
