Valorization of industrial biomass residues of different origin (obtained from the combustion of forest biomass, solid waste from vegetable tanning, the industrial production of Agar-Agar from macroalgae, various food industries, sewage sludge…). Physical and chemical activation, with special emphasis on the use of basic hydroxides and carbonates. Physical and chemical characterization of the different adsorbent materials. Gas phase applications (VOCs, CO2, H2S, NH3), separation of gases (biogas, siloxanes) from the aqueous phase (organic compounds, pharmaceutical industry,…). Carbonaceous materials obtained from biomass residues with magnetic and/or catalytic properties. Environmental implications.
