Service description
Mechanical preparation (grinding and pulverization) of the sample for mineral separation by Wilfley table and magnetic separation. It includes a final stage of selection and separation with a binocular magnifying glass.
Chemical Abrasion Preparation (CA)
Chemical preparation: isotopic dilution (ID) using tracers 208Pb-235U and 205Pb-233U-235U (for zircon). The tracers have been calibrated in the Earthtime experiment (Interlab Control by MIT and BGS). Chemical separation U and Pb for zircon with the Krogh method (HCl) and chemical separation with HBr for other minerals, purification U with UTEVA resin.
Measurement of isotope ratios with a TIMS TRITON by multicollection in faraday cups and SEM, and peak jump in the SEM.
