Hertha Ayrton
Born in 1854 in England. She studied in Cambridge Girton College. In 1880 she obtained the famous certificate known as Mathematical Tripos and B. Sc in London University.
She was the first woman member of Electrical Engineer Institution in 1899, where she presented her work The Hissing of Electric Arc. In 1904 she presented The Origin and Growth of Ripple Marks in Royal Society, becoming the first woman who presents a scientific work in such distinguished institution.
In 1906, she received the Huges Medal of Royal Society. In 1910 she published On a New Method of Driving off Poisonous Gases, that was applied to the evacuation of gases in trenches during the first world war. She worked on electricity and fluid dynamics. She passed way in 1923.
