Molecular Physics of Astronomic and Atmospheric Systems

The group is made out of scientists with complementary backgrounds and expertise focused on the research of basic problems in the realm of Molecular Physics. The subjects of study are mainly systems of relevance in astronomical environments or in the Earth’s atmosphere. The group works in close collaboration with astrophysicists and atmospheric scientists. A combination of experimental techniques and theoretical approaches is used for the investigation of the selected objectives. The results of the group’s research constitute significant advances, as attested by a good number of publications, and are useful for the interpretation of field data and for the elaboration of models. Although the group is mostly dedicated to basic research, possible environmental implications or technological applications of some results are also considered.
