Service description
This Service provision is part of the Physical Properties measurement System (PPMS). Electric transport measurements are useful for determining the resistive behavior of the materials, for performing IV characteristics and for studying several phenomena such as Hall Effect or Magneto Resistenace.
The base system has the following characteristics:
* Magnetic field range: -90kOe to 90kOe, using a longitudinal superconducting magnet.
* Temperature range: 1.8K to 400K. Temperature stability of 0.1%.
There are two possibilities of measurement.
DC CURRENT MEASUREMENTS:
The measurements are carried out using four-wire configuration.
* Current range: ±5nA to ±5mA
* Voltage range: Up to 95mV
* Power range: Up to 1mW.
* Built-in possibility of switching from positive/negative current using a square wave and, thus, removing the contact resistance contribution.
* Automatic sample rotator in order to change its orientation respect to magnetic field.
AC CURRENT MEASUREMENTS:
* Current range: 10uA to 2A.
* Voltage range: Up to 5V.
* Frequency range: 10Hz to 10kHz.
* Measurement possibilities:
- Resistivity in 4 wire configuration measurement.
- Hall Coefficient in 5 wire configuration.
- IV Characteristics.
