Under the provision of what has been established in the 3rd Equality Plan between women and men in AGE, since 2021 CSIC has been driving the creation of Equality Committees in its Institutes, Centres and Units as support structures to promote CSIC’s equality policy. These, voluntary, could form the Equality Committee through agreement of Institute Board.
Mission of Equality Committees of Institutes
The Equality Committees of CSIC’s Institutes, Centres and Units could have as general mission the support for the creation of CSIC’s equality polices in each one of them, within CSIC Equality Plan framework that are in force in each moment.
Also, they could contribute to the management of the Institute and, where appropriate, its Board - specify concrete measures in each axis of the CSIC’s Equality Plan, within the provisions of that Plan, the current regulatory framework and its scope of competence.
Roles of Equality Committees of Institutes
The Equality Committees of the Institutes carry out the following functions with the objective to guarantee gender equality in the Council workplace. Among these functions we can highlight:
Support the implementation of CSIC’s Equality Plan in force in each moment.
Dissemination and promotion of CSIC equality policies.
Situation diagnostic of equality in each Institute and equality promotion in the organizational and functional structures of it.
Contact point in each Institute for equality issues.

Meetings of the Equality Committees
3rd RS Meeting at the IPBLN (Granada on 26 May 2023)
Organized by Institute of Parasitology and Biomedicine "López-Neyra" (IPBLN) (IPBLM-CSIC), in coordination with CSIC’s Delegate Committee for Equality and Women and Science Commission.
The objective of the Meeting is to foster the collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and experiences among CSIC’s committees. It also addressed current issues in the area of gender equality and the best practices were discussed for the promotion of equality and diversity in scientific area.
2nd RS Meeting at IFT (Madrid, November 17th 2021)
Organized by Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT, CSIC-UAM), in coordination with CSIC Delegate Committee for Equality and Women and Science Commission.
This meeting is framed within the activities addressed to strengthen CSIC’s Equality Group Network, created in the wake of celebration of the first meeting organized by Instituto de Ciencias del Mar (ICM-CSIC) in 2020. The main objective of these meetings is to foster links between CSIC’s Equality Groups and favor the interchange of recommendations and good practices about Action Plans in Gender Equality of the different centres.
2nd RS Meeting in ICM (Virtual, December 10th 2020)
The Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC), in coordination with CSC, fosters the first meeting of Women and Science Commissions in CSIC’s centres.
The event is framed in Leading Towards Sustainable Gender Equality Plans in Research Institutions European project (LeTSGEPs), that pursues the implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEP) with integration of gender budget approach (GB) in research centres and consortium universities of which ICM-CSIC forms part.
