Advanced Computing & e-Science

Since 2000, the group has been leading initiatives to develop computing techniques and infrastructures for simulation and massive data processing: European (EOSC, EGI), international (CERN Tier-2 CMS) and national (e-Science network and ICTS Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), Altamira node, first official master's degree in Data Science). Coordinating European projects (Interactive European Grid and Deep Hybrid Datacloud) or leading WP in more than 20 project together with other international reference centres (KIT-Karlsruhe, INFN, LIP, PSNC, IISAS, etc.), we research in cloud infrastructure and middleware, data science techniques, and their application in different scientific areas, highlighting particle physics, astrophysics, climate, environment and health. Currently the focus is on the development and application of deep learning techniques, participating in several European projects and coordinating since September 2022 the European project AI4EOSC.
