PRE2023- The Impact of Microbiome and Diet on Infant Health Programming, Growth & Development: MAMI 6 years follow-up -PID2022-139475OB-I002

A 4 year position is available for a Ph.D. student to work in the MAMI+ project. We aim to understand the mechanisms involved in the relationship between microbiota, diet and health in the child population of the Valencian Community.The hosting place is the Group of Lactic Acid Bacteria and Probiotics at Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC), Severo Ochoa Excellence Research Centre, in Valencia (Spain). The 4 years PhD project will be focused on database management (e.g. clinical, anthropometric, nutritional), microbiota/microbiome analysis (qPCR, metataxonomics, metagenomics), metabolomics, in vitro analysis to understand host-microbe-diet interactions, and bioinformatics/ML. The candidate will benefit from the multidisciplinary and translational research environment both within the project itself and among research groups and collaborators including clinicians and scientists from different disciplines (pediatricics, gastroenterology, nutrition, psychology, neuropediatrics, computational biology). Requeriments: i) The candidate must be highly self-motivated and dedicated, be able to work independently but also to interact with other lab members, ii) ideally have previous experience in microbiology and bioinformatics and be familiar with nutritional aspects and in vitro analysis (digestion, cell culture methods, etc.). iii) Candidates should already have a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline., and iv) Good English skills.
