PRE2023-Ecohydrological processes in Mediterranean headwater catchments (PID2022-141868NB-I00)

The Surface Hydrology, Ecology and Erosion Group is seeking for a PhD candidate to work within the project “WARMed: Ecohydrological resilience of Mediterranean headwater catchments to disturbances in water availability". The motivation of WARMed is to provide novel and valuable knowledge on the ecohydrological resilience of Mediterranean headwater catchments to disturbances in water availability. Investigating how disturbances in water availability will affect ecohydrological dynamics at different spatial scales will help scientists, and managers to anticipate the hydrological consequences of global change in Mediterranean catchments. The WARMed project is an ideal setting to host a PhD candidate in ecohydrology, taking advantage of the demonstrated scientific experience of the host group and of the potential of the infrastructures in the Vallcebre research catchments. This framework will allow the candidate to learn the handling of a great diversity of techniques related with ecohydrological monitoring, the use of water stable isotopes and the use of ecohydrological models. The candidate will be part of a team with demonstrated training capacity. The inclusion in WARMed will also allow her/him to interact with national and international researchers and to be trained by foreign researchers included in the project. She/he will be integrated into a productive scientific environment that will allow her/him to acquire the tools necessary to disseminate results.
