JAEPRE23-05: Knowledge mobilisation by research teams: unravelling network dynamics in biomedicine through a behavioural lens

The project aims to investigate how research teams in biomedicine mobilise their knowledge and expertise to produce science with high translational potential. The project will advance our understanding of research team dynamics and how teamwork favours the production of impactful research. In doing so, we will move beyond the dominant structural approaches to collaboration networks to unpack behavioural mechanisms that account for how networks are mobilised. The multilevel research design proposed will connect individual brokering behaviour (e.g. strategic orientation towards cooperation, resources and inputs mobilised within research teams) with research teams' dynamics (structure, diversity, division of labour) and knowledge characteristics (degree of novelty, translational potential). The project will encompass big data analysis and natural language processing methods to analyse co-authorship networks, scientific publications' content, and granular information on networking behaviour from a survey tool.
