Porcine Reproductive Biotechnology

The activities to be carried out by the research group will cover different aspects related to embryonic development and assisted reproduction. An important area of our work focuses on determining the factors that influence the viability and quality of embryos produced in vitro. This involves investigating the effects of various culture conditions, as well as the development of new techniques and protocols to improve the outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo culture. Another fundamental aspect of our research is the study of the mechanisms involved in embryo-maternal communication. We are interested in unveiling the mechanisms by which embryos interact with the maternal environment and how these interactions affect development, survival, and embryo implantation, as well as the maternal immune system response. This will allow us to identify possible risk factors and develop strategies to improve success rates in assisted reproduction.
