The reflectometer/transmisometer covers the spectral range of 50 to 200 nanometers (nm). The equipment allows measuring the specular reflectance and transmittance of flat samples in the approximate angular range of 5º to 85º. The maximum dimensions of the samples are 50.8x50.8 mm and preferably not thicker than 3 mm.
The equipment has a Rochon polarizer for wavelengths longer than 130 nm. It also has a transmittance polarizer based on a coating developed at GOLD laboratory that approximately covers the range 120-130 nm. For measurements at wavelengths shorter than 120 nm, light impinging on the sample is partially polarized. The reflectometer/transmissometer allows the measurement in two planes of incidence that are perpendicular to each other, which makes it possible to obtain reflectance or transmittance that is equivalent to non-polarized light. The reflectometer is connected in vacuum with two coating deposition chambers, one operating by evaporation and the other by sputtering, so that the reflectance and transmittance of these films or multilayers can be measured in situ, i.e., before exposing them to the atmosphere.
The reflectometer is located in an ISO-8 clean room.
