One of Horizon 2020 objectives is to increase the level of excellence in European basic science and ensure a steady flow of quality research to ensure Europe's long-term competitiveness.

The excellence and experience of CSIC in these programs places us as the first Spanish institution in number of ERC projects. ERC researchers can develop their projects in any field of knowledge with highly competitive salary conditions.

Success cases of ERC in CSIC

CSIC has participated in a very active way in the ERC program since its beginning in the Seventh Framework Program (FP7). With more than ninety ERC projects, it is the first Spanish entity to execute these projects, leading ERC projects in its five categories:

ICN
  • Starting Grant (STG) for researchers who defended their thesis in a period of two to seven years prior to the call.
  • Consolidator Grant (COG) ) for researchers who defended their thesis in a period of seven to 12 years prior to the call.
  • Advanced Grant (ADG) for researchers with more than ten years of experience.
  • Synergy Grant (SYG) ambitious projects involving two to four researchers of recognized prestige.
  • Proof of Concept (POC) projects for researchers with an ERC, who seek to analyze the market potential of some result of their ERC project.
